Biking in Steamboat Springs

Biking is one of our favorite outdoor activities, and as you might expect, there are plenty of opportunities for us to do so in Steamboat Springs. We like to spend as much time outside as possible, and thanks to fat-tire bikes, guests and locals can ride all year round; yes, fat-tire bikes allow you to ride through the snow, so there’s no break in winter! If Steamboat Springs mountain biking is your thing and you want to try something different during your Colorado adventures, we highly recommend snow biking, but if you want to stick to what you know and there is no snow on the ground, this guide will get you on two wheels almost as soon as you step off the plane!

Where to Rent

We are going to go out on a limb here and make a wild guess that you will not be carrying your own bike and gear during your travels, and that’s ok! Ski Haus, located at 1457 Pine Grove Road, has a selection of bikes for rent that will boggle the mind. Offering everything from electric bikes to tandem bikes to fat-tire bikes, and of course, all types of mountain bikes, you might have a little trouble narrowing down your choices at first. Ski Haus also rents out junior bikes, trailers, and tag-a-longs, allowing you to have family adventures you will never forget! The prices range from as little as $10 an hour to as much as $59 a day depending on the bike you choose, guaranteeing that this activity will fit into vacation budgets large and small. Helmets are included in your rental fee, as are bike locks, so you and your Steamboat Springs mountain biking companions will remain safe and sound, as will the bikes you rent.

Where to Ride

Now that you have your bikes and the accompanying gear, it’s time to seek out Steamboat Springs biking trails. Lucky for you, they are plentiful! Emerald Mountain trails are primarily bike only, but the Yampa River Core Trailhead and the Fish Creek Falls trails are biker friendly as well; just keep an eye out for other riders, hikers, and the occasional stroller or wheelchair.
