Strings Music Festival

Strings Music Festival presents music of the highest quality in an intimate mountain setting. The festival includes a genre-spanning lineup featuring classical musicians from the nation’s top orchestras and chart-topping popular contemporary artists. All of whom perform in an intimate, 569-seat Pavilion nestled at the base of Steamboat’s mountains. Visit their website a full schedule of performances and to purchase tickets.

Steamboat Resort Opening Day 2025

November 22nd, 2025. Kick off the 2025/26 winter season in true Steamboat style with the legendary opening day celebration. Festivities start at 7:30am and lifts open at 8:30am.

Visa Big Air Event

December 11th-13th, 2025. Steamboat Ski Resort is proud to partner with U.S. Ski and Snowboard to host the first qualifying event of the season: the Visa Big Air presented by Toyota. It will be the first and only big air qualifying event for the 2026 Olympics. Come cheer on your favorite athletes and enjoy a weekend full of exciting events.

Santa Saddles Up

December 20th, 2025. Santa will ride into the resort from the Torian Plum Area down the slopes into the heart of Steamboat Square escorted by legendary locals Bob Dapper and Dean Vogelaar. This happens promptly at 1pm and takes just a few minutes so be sure to be here early not to miss it. Immediately following the ride Santa will be available on the Steamboat Stage to visit with guests and take pictures. Complimentary hot chocolate and cupcakes will be available.

Holiday Drone Show

December 20th, 5:30-6:00pm. Join Steamboat Resort for an unforgettable evening of magic and wonder! As the sun sets on the sky will come alive around 5:30 PM with a mesmerizing drone show that captures the heart of Steamboat’s spirit and the festive holiday season. Watch as lights dance through the air, creating dazzling formations that will leave you in awe. Bring your friends and family to experience this one-of-a-kind celebration—it's a night of spectacular sights and unforgettable memories you won’t want to miss!

Holiday Skate Party

December 20th, 6:00-7:30pm. Join Steamboat Resort for a festive Holiday Skate Party at Skeeter's Rink, located right at the base of the resort. Delight in the sheer exuberance of the season as you skate beneath the stars. The scene promises to be one of enchantment and fun, making it a must-attend event for all ages. You'll groove to your favorite holiday tunes, and we've got a magical display of lights to amp up the atmosphere.

Hanukkah Lighting

December 21st, 12:00-1:30pm. Join Rabbi Kolby Morris-Dahary of Har Mishpacha: The Jewish Congregation of Steamboat and Shannon Lukens of Steamboat Radio will be on the Steamboat Stage at the base of the mountain in a celebration of the Festival of Light. Whether you are local or visiting, Jewish or not, you are invited to celebrate with us in song, treats (jelly donuts), and the ritual of lighting a Hanukkah menorah!

NYE Light Up Snowcat Parade and Fireworks

December 31st, 2025. Kick off the evening with a Light Up Snow Cat parade and the Steamboat SnowSports Instructors performing synchronized skiing illuminated only by the light of torches. At the conclusion of the parade, fireworks will light up the sky over the resort to ring in 2026.

NYE Dress to Impress Masquerade Party

December 31st, 8:00pm-12:30am. Celebrate New Year’s Eve in style, where mountain elegance meets ski town charm! Ride the gondola to an unforgettable evening high above the valley, surrounded by breathtaking snow-covered peaks. This “Dress to Impress” masquerade invites you to don your finest attire, a dazzling mask, and your best party vibes. Tickets available on Steamboat Resort's website.

MusicFest 2026

January 5th-10th, 2026. In January, The MusicFest at Steamboat will celebrate an incredible milestone—40 years of music, mountains, and memories. What began as a humble gathering of friends and musicians in 1986 has grown into one of the most iconic and beloved music festivals in the country and the largest group ski trip in the USA. Fans and artists prepare to return once again to the snow-covered peaks of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Bud Light Cowboy Downhill

January 19th, 2026. It all began over 50 years ago when Billy Kidd, Steamboat’s director of skiing, and Larry Mahan, six-time all-around World Champion cowboy, decided to invite a few of the ProRodeo stars to Steamboat for a day of skiing. The cowboys had such a great time that the downhill has become the most popular event of the season with over 100 of the best professional rodeo cowboys competing in the most unique ski rodeo in the country. The Cowboy Downhill is always scheduled to coincide with the National Western Stock Show in Denver.

113th Steamboat Winter Carnival

February 3rd-8th, 2026. The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, one of the largest and oldest winter sports clubs in the U.S., hosts the 113th Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival, the oldest continuing Winter Carnival west of the Mississippi. For several days, the entire town is given over to racing, ski jumping, a parade featuring Steamboat’s skiing high school band (the only one in the United States), the famous ski jöring events down Lincoln Avenue, and the spectacular night show featuring the legendary Lighted Man and fireworks display where you can see one of the largest fireworks in the country!

Light up the Night Celebration

February 14th, 2026. View the beauty of magnificent hot air balloons up close that will illuminate the Mountain Village from 5:30-6:30pm. Spectators can stroll among the standing balloons or watch from the warmth of a slope side eatery. Timber & Torch will be open to warm up and enjoy dinner and drinks. The grand finale is the Fireworks and Torchlight Parade.

WinterWonderGrass Festival

February 27th-March 1st, 2026. WinterWonderGrass is a community, first and foremost. They are part music festival, part beer festival, part après ski and part family reunion. WinterWonderGrass takes place from Friday, February 27th until Sunday March 1st from 2-10pm daily. Free shows presented by WWG include a Thursday kick off celebration on February 26th from 1-5pm at the base of Steamboat Resort, plus free live shows at the top of the mountain at Thunderhead Lodge on Saturday and Sunday, February 28th, and March 1st (Gondola or Ikon pass required).

Bud Light Rocks the Boat Concert Series

Saturdays from March 7th-April 12th (Sunday). Celebrate spring in Steamboat with the return of a beloved tradition. Now in its 25th year, Bud Light Rocks the Boat brings free concerts to Steamboat Square, creating the perfect après-ski atmosphere every weekend. From bluegrass and New Orleans-style rhythm and blues to Celtic tunes and classic rock, the series offers something for every music lover. It’s the ideal way to wrap up a day on the mountain with great tunes, great company, and unbeatable mountain views. Concerts begin at 3:30pm in Steamboat Square.

Cardboard Classic

April 11th, 11:30am-1:00pm. Get ready for the wildest ride on snow. The Cardboard Classic is back and it’s bringing the laughs. This legendary Steamboat tradition features homemade sleds made entirely from cardboard, glue, string, and a whole lot of questionable engineering. Watch as teams launch their creations down the snow in a chaotic, hilarious, and totally awesome race to the bottom. Expect crashes, wild costumes, and some serious creativity.

Splashdown Pond Skim

April 12th, 1:00-2:30pm. A spring tradition in Ski Town, U.S.A®., the Splashdown Pond Skimming Championships are back and as rowdy as ever. Skiers and riders suit up in their best retro gear and wildest costumes, then send it across an icy pond with style, speed, and a whole lot of commitment. It’s the ultimate celebration of spring skiing, whether you make it across or make a splash. Spectators can expect big airs, bold moves, and plenty of laughs.
