Get Ready to Rodeo in Style
The fun begins on Friday, June 30th when the Jumpin’ and Jammin Ski Jump Training event kicks off at Howelsen Hill at 8:30 am. This runs through 10:30 am and will be held each morning through July 3rd. This evening, you’re going to want to be sure to purchase tickets to the Pro Rodeo Series held at Brent Romick Arena. The Steamboat Pro Rodeo Series is a highlight of 4th of July and Cowboys’ Roundup Days fun in Steamboat Springs each year. The event is always exciting and inviting as everyone decks out in their cowboy and cowgirl best to enjoy this award-winning Steamboat tradition.
The rodeo runs through August 26th each Friday and Saturday night, but adding to your Independence Day lineup is a must. Rodeo events start at 7:30 pm and typical ticket prices are $20 for adults and $15 for kids 7 to 15 with 4th of July pricing adjusted to $25 for adults. All children 6 and under can enjoy the rodeo fun for free. When you make time to enjoy the Steamboat Pro Rodeo Series, you’ll be in for a variety of performances, competitions, and displays. The rodeo features bareback riding which calls for cowboys and cowgirls to use a single hand grasping a leather rigging to stay on the saddle-less horse for a minimum of 8 seconds. Riders are judged on their technique, timing, and handling. The rodeo also includes team roping which sees two cowboys or cowgirls chasing down a steer via horseback while saddle bronc riding events give riders the benefit of a thick rein attached to a horse’s halter while trying to stay on successfully. Spectators can also enjoy barrel racing for time, and bull riding too.
Stroll Through the Holiday Farmers Market
If you’re in Steamboat Springs on Saturday, July 1, 2023, you’ll want to make sure to head downtown around 9:00 am when the local farmers market opens to the public. The market is open until 2:00 pm and is a great place to browse locally grown goods and handcrafted wares by local artisans too. From homemade pastries to wall art that’s one-of-a-kind, there’s a little bit of something for everyone at the farmers market over the 4th of July in Steamboat Springs.
Steamboat Springs 4th of July Festivities
Independence Day in Steamboat Springs comes with plenty of options to choose from when you’re looking to round out your itinerary! The local Lion’s Club will be hosting a pancake breakfast open to the community at Little Toots Park starting at 7:00 am and running until 9:30 am. There’s also a 3K roller ski happening at 9:30 am and at 10:00 am you’ll want to be sure to have your spot picked out downtown when the annual Independence Day parade starts presented by Yampa Valley Bank. The city of Steamboat Springs won’t be hosting fireworks due to annual weather conditions that make the area prone to fire risks, but there will be community gatherings, food, music, and drinks available throughout the evening to enjoy alongside family and friends!
