In 2022, the event will be held June 5th starting at 7:30 am and includes options to register for the marathon, half-marathon or 10K according to preference. The race finishes at the Routt County Courthouse and invites runners and spectators to enjoy being a part of this race’s 41st year in Steamboat! Runners will make their way along the scenic Elk River following Country Road 129. From the mountain peaks in the distance to the comradery found at the post-race fun events, it’s a must-experience summer moment.
2. Yampa River Festival
If you find yourself in Steamboat Springs between June 3rd and 4th of 2022, be sure to make the most of time enjoyed at the Yampa River Festival. This festival raises awareness and funds to maintain the 270-mile Yampa River. Over the course of two days, participants made up of anglers and boaters head here to enjoy competitive time on the water. Other Steamboat summer events held during the festival include a 5K run, slalom, kayaking and a crazy river dog contest just to name a few. The event is topped off with Bluegrass music performances and of course, plenty of food and savory beverages to go around.
3. Hot Air Balloon Show
The sky above Steamboat Springs fills with color on Saturday July 9th and 10th in 2022. This is when the hot air balloon show, often referred to as a rodeo, is in full swing much to the delight of locals and visitors alike! Hot air balloons are filled and lifted early in the morning hours on these days making for a great way to kick off your weekend. The balloon rodeo happens alongside other exciting events including Art in the Park and a Balloon Glow on Saturday night. Those looking to enjoy this colorful event will want to head toward Ski Town Park at 2550 Pine Grove Road between 6:30 am and 9:30 am each day.
4. 4th of July Fun
Celebrating Independence Day is always a summer highlight but in Steamboat Springs, it happens in tandem with the Cowboy Roundup Days! Hosted July 1st through the 4th this festival runs from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm daily and includes a parade, Pioneer block party and plenty of fantastic food and root beer floats to go around. There will be fireworks on the 4th of July for guests to enjoy as well that are easily visible from the base of the Howelsen Hill area. 5. Pro Rodeo Series
The Pro Rodeo Series is an annual summertime favorite in Steamboat Springs and runs from the first weekend of July through August 27th.These Steamboat summer events are held at the Brent Romick Arena at Howelsen Hill Rodeo Grounds with ticket sales kicking off on April 1, 2022. Over the course of the series, more than 10 rodeos are features as well as 20 performances. Spectators will witness saddle bronc, bull riding and bareback displays as well as team roping, barrel racing and beyond!
