Steamboat Springs 4th of July Parade
Wear your best red, white, and blue and head down to Yampa Street for a 4th of July parade that pulls out all the stops. The 119th Annual Cowboys’ Roundup Days Fourth of July Parade celebrates the holiday, as well as the Yampa Valley’s rich western heritage. The “Red, White, and YOU” themed parade starts at 10 a.m. on the 4th. See local cowboys, horses, doggies, fire trucks, and locally sponsored floats.
Pro Rodeo Series
Start the 4th of July weekend with the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo. You’ll see bull riding, roping, bareback riding, steer wrestling, and more. Pause to enjoy a laugh with the clown. There are even events for child cowboys and cowgirls. Enjoy delicious BBQ dinners, burgers, hot dogs, drinks, sides, and snacks, to keep your thirst and hunger quenched. Fun can be had Friday and Saturday starting at 6 p.m. with the BBQ and live music. Performances start at 7:30 p.m. at the Howelsen Hill sports complex.
Jumpin’ & Jammin’ Extravaganza
Come see the nation’s best Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined athletes take flight up to 225 feet overhead! Head over to Howelsen Hill to watch the athletes perform without snow. The event runs July 1-4 and admission is free. You can see the athletes’ training sessions on July 1 and 2, 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m. If you want to see everyone at their competitive best, competitions are on July 3, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., and July 4, 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Tread of Pioneers Museum
Learn about how the pioneers that settled in the Steamboat Springs area arrived and set up their homes. The heart of the museum is a 1901 Queen Anne-style Victorian home that boasts turn-of-the-century furnishings. You’ll find interactive exhibits featuring local and regional Native American history, skiing, agriculture, mining, pioneer settlement, town development, and more. There are kid-friendly activities and exhibits, too.
Golf
Summer is the perfect time to challenge yourself to world-class golf. The golfers of the group will want to take a walk that includes their golf bag and shoes. The Steamboat Springs area boasts three nearby golf courses where you can practice your skills. Share the course with wildlife like elk, eagles, blue herons, and others. Choose from the Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club, Haymaker Golf Course or Steamboat Golf Club. If your clubs didn’t make the packing list, ask about a rental set when booking your tee time.
Hot Springs
Visit what made the area famous. Old Town Hot Springs is a multi-use complex located in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs. Slide into the heat of eight natural mineral water hot pools, go down the two water slides, or keep up on your workout at the fitness center, or aquatic rock-climbing wall. There is also a kid’s area, and much more to keep everyone busy. Strawberry Park Hot Springs is located on the edge of the Yampa Valley and features thermal pools that range in temperature from 101-106 degrees Fahrenheit. Only cash will be accepted for entry fees. No credit or debit cards.
Water Sports
Cool off this 4th of July. Head to one of the three Colorado state parks with lakes that surround the Steamboat Springs area. Enjoy a swim, or any one of a myriad of water activities including fishing, boating, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
