Holiday Events in Steamboat Springs
Whenever you prepare for the holiday season, you will find that most families will always put up their Christmas tree first. This item is always a staple for holiday décor and adds a bit of warmth to the home’s ambience. This holiday season you can take a look at over 25 different Christmas trees that have been decorated by local sponsors, including organizations and schools. The annual Festival of Trees will be returning to Steamboat Springs in 2024. The event is held over at the Tread of Pioneers Museum and has been a staple of the community for 30 years. Explore the different trees to find unique decorations found nowhere else. This is a great spot to take a holiday photo of the family to send out to those who did not join on the trip. You can also find golden keys hidden in the trees for a mini scavenger hunt for the kids. The Festival of Trees is Tread of Pioneers Museum’s biggest fundraiser event of the year, and all proceeds go towards educational activities and museum preservation. The 30th Annual Festival of Trees will take place November 16th through November 30th. The museum will be open in this time frame from Tuesday through Saturday during the hours of 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Entry into the event is free for Routt County residents, while out of towners will need to pay regular admission price.
Steamboat Opening Day
The biggest reason why countless visitors make their way to Steamboat Springs during the holiday season is to enjoy some winter sports. The city is home to Steamboat Ski Resort, which offers some of the best skiing conditions in the country. Even if you have never skied or snowboarded before, you will want to give it a shot this holiday season. Take the family on an adventurous day down the slopes when the season officially kicks off on November 23rd. While it is always worthwhile skiing on any day of the season, the first day always offers a few extra goodies in which to partake. Enjoy the complimentary Powder Day donuts and mimosas while supplies last. The first 100 skiers or riders get a free Opening Day T-shirt to commemorate the event. There will be hidden prizes on the mountain that you will want to keep your eyes open for, and the Champagne Powder snow bell will be rung to officially kick off the festivities. Make sure to try out some of the introductory lessons if this is your first time. The onsite ski shop has plenty of rental gear for you to check out during the day.
Holiday Drone Show
Officially kick off the holiday season with the Holiday Drone Show taking place in Steamboat Springs. This free event will take place on December 14th over at Steamboat Resort. It is an evening full of wonderful holiday magic to help you kick off the Steamboat Spring’s festivities. The drone show will dance and dazzle in the night sky starting at 5:30 PM to create incredible formations you have not seen anywhere else. The drone show will last for approximately half an hour before the event includes even more fun. Enjoy a holiday skate party from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on the ice skating rink nearby. You will have plenty of time to get your bearings if you have not skated before and skates are included to rent. Finally, you can enjoy night skiing from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM right on the slopes. Skiing at night is a lovely experience where you will find the slopes to be lit up guiding you down the mountain. Steamboat Springs knows how to bring out the holiday fun this year!
