Steamboat Ski and Snowboard Guide: Ski Runs
Take advantage of the many heart-pumping ski and snowboard runs of Mount Werner that Steamboat Resort is known for. From beginner to advanced there are runs that challenge every experience level right in the Elevated Properties back yard! Bear Claw & Edgemont are located on Stampede, a green run about 100 yards from the base area. Treating yourself to a true ski-in, ski-out property is sure to create lasting memories. For added adventure make sure you take a visit to Howelsen Hill located in downtown Steamboat Springs. Started in 1915, Howelsen Hill Ski Area is North America’s oldest operating ski area and Steamboat’s “hometown hill.” It also boasts the largest and most complete natural ski jumping complex in North America!
A ski and snowboard resort town like Steamboat Springs isn’t complete without a myriad of shops where you can buy and rent all the gear you’ll need for a fun, safe time on the slopes. Make sure to come prepared – you’ll need to know each person’s height, weight, shoe size, and experience level to get fitted with the right equipment for each person. Contact our knowledgeable concierge team for the best recommendations in town. We partner with the best professionals to make your vacation a breeze! Many of our partners will schedule a private fitting at our property, so you don’t have to leave the comfort of your vacation rental.
Most of your time and energy will be focused on the slopes, but you’ll want to make time to visit the springs of Steamboat Springs. There are two that keep locals and visitors coming back time and again. Warm up after time on the slopes, relax tired muscles, or just enjoy one of the main attractions of the town. Old Town Hot Springs is located in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs and is a multi-use complex. It boasts eight natural mineral water hot pools, two water slides, a fitness center, aquatic rock climbing wall, kid’s area, and much more. Strawberry Park Hot Springs is located on the edge of the Yampa Valley. You’ll find thermal pools that range in temperature from 101-106 degrees Fahrenheit.
There’s a first time for everything. Make your first skiing or snowboarding experience fun and memorable – and safe – by taking some lessons before hitting the slopes on your own. SnowSports Ski School offers group and private lessons for every age and skill level. Start kids as young as two-years-old with the basics or brush up on your own skills before hitting the slopes alone. For adults who have never even held a ski pole before, there’s the “Never Ever” adult lessons. Our concierge team is happy to get you in touch with the folks at Steamboat Resort to book your lessons.
Aside from gear rentals or purchases, make some time to check out the local shops and boutiques. You’ll want to pick up some souvenirs and mementos during your adventures. Steamboat Ski Resort and other ski areas offer plenty of items you’ll want to take home to remember your trip. Head into town for some unique shops that even offer items made in Colorado.
A long day on the slopes or day filled with other activities, you’re going to need to fuel up. Steamboat offers plenty of dining options from breakfast to dinner. Savor the flavors of your favorite Mexican, Italian, or American grill foods. If your ski adventure includes your sweetheart, dress for a night on the town at one of our fine dining establishments for a night to remember. Contact the concierge team for our recommendations!
