There are several local churches of many denominations that will be celebrating the holiday with Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. Contact the church to find out when and where services are being held.

Hot Springs

Don’t visit Steamboat Springs without making time to visit the hot springs that gave the town its name. There are two that keep locals and visitors coming back time and again. Old Town Hot Springs is located in the heart of downtown Steamboat and is a multi-use complex, giving you a full body workout and relaxation opportunity. It boasts eight natural mineral water hot pools, two water slides, a fitness center, aquatic rock climbing wall, kid’s area, and more to keep everyone happy and engaged. Strawberry Park Hot Springs is located on the edge of the Yampa Valley. You’ll find several thermal pools that range in temperature from 101-106 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure to check COVID-19 restrictions before heading to either location. They may include the springs operating at limited capacity or schedule, and reservations may be required, and bring a mask to wear whenever you’re not in the water. Please observe social distancing when possible. Restrooms are still available, but changing rooms are limited. Only cash will be accepted for entry fees. No credit or debit cards.

Breweries

Step inside one of Steamboat’s breweries for a break from the snow and cold. Enjoy seasonal tastes and some on-tap regulars at one of the breweries that call Steamboat Springs home. Choose from lagers, pilsners, IPAs, ales, and many more. Each brewery has its own unique flavors and choices, so you’re bound to find something to warm you up and satisfy your thirst. Depending on the brewhouse you visit, you can also enjoy a complete meal when you order from their food menu. You can even purchase some of the brews to take back and enjoy at your rental or ask the staff where else in Steamboat or Colorado their beers are sold.

Snow Activities

There’s more to the snow than skiing or snowboarding. Strap on some snowshoes and explore Rabbit Ears Pass. Take a horse-drawn sleigh ride, go sledding or snow tubing, or just have fun making snowmen and snow angels outside your vacation rental.

Skiing

Colorado is known for its great skiing towns. Steamboat is no exception. It’s also known as “Ski Town USA” and “Champagne Powder.” The Steamboat Ski Resort features nearly 3,000 skiable acres! Expand your ski experience with cross country skiing or take a ride down the slopes after dark with night skiing.

Snow Biking

Grab a bike and hit the snowy trails. The “fat tires” help you cut through the powder to explore the trails cutting through the snow-capped mountains. Stop frequently for warm-up breaks and also to capture photos of the gorgeous landscape and take in views of the mountains and valley as you bike your way through Steamboat Springs’ great outdoors. There are several loops and trail systems of varying degrees of difficulty, with added obstacle of snow. Many of the trails are a great hike or dirt bike excursion too, so make sure you share the trails with others.
